Starbuck is NOT a Cylon

There have been a few ideas buzzing around that Starbuck is a Cylon. I wholeheartedly disagree. If she were a Cylon, the whole episode, "The Farm" would be useless. Another Cylon would not abduct her body and cut into her, rip out her ovaries if she were one of them. She also has a complex past of abuse which led to artistic expression, something we have certainly not seen in any Cylon character (or any other character, for that matter). Starbuck is special, but she is NOT a Cylon.

I agree completely! At this point in the show, seems like even the most twisted pretzel logic couldn't rationalize starbuck as a cylon. Also I'm having a hard time imagining a room full of bathing suit clad starbuckettes, like boomer's counterparts she discovered on the big hive ship (okay... whatever the ship was called).

I do wonder though, about the aero engineer who has befriended chief. The show managed to introduce a new character, interested in BSG's advanced though homemade stealth technology, very likeable sort of guy, and yet he seems innocuous. While we are paying all our attention to citizen Cain the show sneaks in a new cylon model. It's how quietly he's made his entrance that makes me suspicious. Too quiet.

But not starbuck.

Flight of the Pheonix Episode 2x09 has several events indicationg possible cylon-ness.

1. Firing Range: Lee & Starbuck last much longer without oxygen when the firing range is depressurized by the cylon virus. Hotdog passes out right away....

2. Adama & Sharon smile at each other after Sharon transmits the computer virus that deactivates the cyclon attack fleet.

When Cmd Adama instructs the gaurd to, "take this thing back to its cell," he seems to flash a tiny but quick smile from the right corner of his mouth. Immediately after, from the left corner of her mouth Sharon flashes back a quick smile that is seen in the glow of the red light.

Immediately after this "exchange" there is the usual ominous music played when an intrigue occurs.

What do you all think. Would the blog owner please make this a topic? I would like to know what everybody else thinks. Thank you.

Admiral Adama can't be a cylon, that would just destroy the series. If the cylons were able to implement one of their own as the head honcho in the last remaining human resistance, the board would really just be a rigged, cylon game and a little too homogenized to be interesting. I'm already upset about the colonel being a cylon. It's too late to go back now. Starting season 4 by including a new twist to withdraw the original one would be a cop out. That's the type of move I expect from campier shows like lost and heroes. Still, it makes so little sense. I hope they've developed a plausible explanation for how the primitive cylon "toasters" of 40 years ago managed to create a humanoid cylon prior to even their initial revolt. Blah blah, whatever. They've always pulled it together so far.
Getting back to the meat, it makes sense that Starbuck would be a cylon. One, Leoben knows a lot about her past and who she is. Maybe he just is that perceptive and in tune, or researched her life - but it could just be that as a cylon, he is familiar with her programing (although the other models don't appear to be prithee to this info regarding her.) As for lee adama, how'd they slip a cylon past the admiral and convince him it's his son? Are they gonna tell us the kid was adopted?

There are 12 cylon models. The 7 we know and the final 5 have parted their ways before taking on human form. Therefore, the 7 do not know the identities of the final 5. Tigh, Tyrol, Anders and Foster were revealed as 4 of the final five. None of the other cylons knew them as cylons. Even they themselves were unaware of their identities. Only as they were closer to the Ionian Nebula was Caprica 6 able to feel that "the 5 are close". Only those on Galactica heard their "childhood song". If the 5th was on Galactica then why didn't s/he hear the music too? Think about it.

The initial hybrid says "The fifth, just a doomed shadow turned toward the light, hungry for redemption that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering." Then he tells Shaw that Kara Thrace will lead humanity to it's end... that she is the herald of the apocalypse that they must not follow her. If she is one of the final five, why openly name her and warn us about her?

One more point, I do not think that the final 5 can be resurrected. I believe that if they could, they would have to have a resurrection ship, a fleet that would protect them, etc. etc. if they did wouldn't the other 7 know about them? And wouldn't they have been remotely seen until now? As the story is coming to an end, it seems unlikely that new ships will be introduced and we will have to make do with what we already have.

I think that Starbuck is the cylon. When she appeared to die and returned with knowledge about earth, I believe she WAS killed and downloaded into a new body and released. She was then given the previous memories and was programmed to not realize she had "died." If it is THAT obvious, I'll be annoyed. Otherwise, Lee is my prime candidate.

Adama cannot be a Cylon because in the mini-movie "Razor", its revealed that Admiral Adama discovered the first human-cylon experiments before they were ever completed, so obviously it cant be him.

Its possible that Starbuck might be a Cylon because even though she was taken to one of the "Farms", you have to remember that the current Cylons dont know who the remaining 5 are, which was why Dianna wanted to find out so badly. Its also possible that she is a Cylon because the Cylons were unable get her to produce babies. Also, her being a Cylon would be the only was she couldve survived her Viper explosion and suddenly reappear.

Spoiler alert!!!

No, Starbuck is not a Cylon. When she was in the hospital and the Cylons took her ovary, they did a hybrid thing so that when she died, she was resurrected in a goo bath. In this regard, she may be a Cylon, but if she is, she is not the 12th Cylon, but a new, 13th Cylon (i.e. a Christ/Anti-Christ figure).

The 12th Cylon is Tye's wife.

I'm thinking Starbuck was rescued by the Angels (like in the original series) The would explain why her viper looks brand new. And it would mean that she is not a cylon. In the old series, the people remembered being taken by the angels, so I may be wrong.
