Like Father, Maybe not so Much Like Son...

I was just rewatching Litmus (fantastic episode, by the way), and I came to the part where Commander Adama orders the guard to escort the Sergeant to her quarters. This bears a striking resemblance to the Garner-Apollo incedent toward the end of the second season. Difference is, the guard listened to Bill, but not to Lee. In both cases, listening to the Adama was the "right" choice, but the people listen to Bill, not Lee...why?

Also...at the beginning of Six Degrees of Separation, I have noticed three things that amuse me greatly. As we all know, the BSG universe has clipped corners on all their documents. Apparently, the things that should be round (such as CDs) are octagonal. That cracked me up. The second thing...Shelley Godfrey says, "The doctor gave this to me before he died." Gaius responds, "What, as opposed to after?" The last chuckle-worthy element was after the president's overdose. Doc Cottle says, "I'm going to give you a shot." She pulls up her sleeve, and the Doc says, "Not that kind of shot." This reminds me of a Futurama episode (Parasites Lost, season 3) where Fry is invaded by worms. Zoidberg says he is going to investigate his insides with a little camera. Fry opens his mouth, and Zoidberg says, "Guess again!" Oh my, I do love sci-fi comedy.

I seem to recall I liked the expression the president gave to Cigarette Smoking Doctor when he said.. not that kind of shot.

I'm gonna have to think about the Lee/Bill conundrum, I don't remember those scenes that well.

This probably isn't part of your current marathon... but remember what Kara typed to Lee when she comes back from her stealth mission to photo the resurrection ship? He's been demoted to the back seat... and so starts typing away (using a font size of 8000), trying to see if she's back yet. She pops in just in time to see the peg's fighters about to dance with BSG's fighters.... and she types....

"What the hell is going on here?"

Is there a clue there?... or did the writers slip up and forget that's a reference to a non-BSG present day earth religon?

Saw Cain tonight.... she's a charactor on what I think is last season's 24. I've just started watching.... thinking about getting hooked.

Oh yea! and tomorrow night.... or tonight really, sunday night. I'm not sure yet but I think I finally get to see the WOW episode... which I missed the first time. I was outta town for that weekend and the monday encore. It's cool.... for me a brand new BSG episode! Then I can go back and finally read all the commentary.

And then... 7 months and counting.

Good point on the whole "hell" thing...I remember hearing that and thinking it was weird, but I could never put my finger on why it was so odd. Sad to say, but every now and then our precious writers make a mistake. For instance, listening to the mini and its commentary, they are trying to avoid references to "Earth-land" things, as in dogs, cats, and chickens. Then the small child Roslin talks to says she is going to eat Chicken Pot Pie. After hearing that, I have noticed several occasions of animals being mentioned. there is only one that comes to mind right now, and that was in a deleted scene (Billy talks about his dog), but I am sure there was one more uncut example.

There are earth relgions that have multiple deities, so one could argue that the fictional religion in BSG is more real than some of the real ones we've got here. Besides, are we saying the Lords of Kobol had no hell?

Er. I'm pretty sure in the mini-commentary they wrote that they deliberately included "Earthy" things like apples, dogs, and chicken pie to force the audience to relate to the world the characters exist in -- no shiny jumpsuits or bumpy foreheads.
